The story of Nöösi
A cup of coffee is a unit of time. At its heart, it is a reason to stay in the present moment, alone or together.
Creating an architecturally timeless, beautiful and delicious setting for this ritual of meeting became the guiding star of a decade-long journey.

Along the way, the café drew inspiration from Viennese café culture and the cuisines of continental Europe and Pirkanmaa.
The coffee offering brings together Tampere roasting and beans from the birthplace of Arabica, East Africa, with their fruity and berry-like notes.
A gentle touch of Tampere completes the picture.
From these ingredients, Cafe Nöösi began to take shape.

As the space took shape, the aim was to reveal the original spirit of the premises and preserve as much as possible of the clear lines and structures from the 1960s.
Vintage lights and furniture collected over the years, works by Pirkanmaa artists and brass screws gradually found their places.
The typography and logo take cues from Bauhaus; the typeface was designed by Lance Wyman for the Mexico City Metro in the year this building was completed.
Modern acrylic, chrome and aluminium sit honestly alongside raw concrete, sheet metal and stained birch.
Repeated horizontal lines and primary colours tie the whole together. The aim became a meeting of space-age optimism and pared-back Bauhaus.

The building:
Completed in 1968, As. Oy Kyttälänportti was designed by architect Pentti Turunen and represents the modernist apartment buildings of its era.
From 1968 to 1985, the airy, L-shaped premises housed Pirkanmaan Auto Oy’s Wartburg and Trabant showroom.
A paint shop and a hair salon came later.
